SecureJet Auth-Fingerprint

Biometrics authentication for hp MFPs
and Digital Senders

If you need to control access to hp MultiFunction Printers (MFPs) in your organization, install SecureJet Auth Fingerprint on your hp MFPs and users will need to authenticate with their finger to get access to the device functions such as email, fax, copy or scan. No more PIN code to remember, no more lost badge!

Top-quality biometrics

SecureJet Auth Fingerprint is a sophisticated biometrics sensor allowing users to enroll and authenticate on hp LaserJet MFPs using their finger instead of their login and password. It uses a technology that derivates from R&D for military usage and provides top quality fingerprint recognition.

Users enroll using the MFP built-in LDAP, Active Directory or Kerberos network authentication. Up to two fingers can be enrolled per user, and up to 500 users can be enrolled per MFP. SecureJet Auth Fingerprint offers the fastest enrollment and recognition speed at the best recognition rate.

Authenticate for MFP applications

The administrator can define for what MFP functions users must scan their finger on the sensor to get access. Upon finger recognition, the MFP knows about the user name, login and email address. That information is then used by the MFP application such as email sending (FROM field), copy tracking or secure printing to reclaim the user print jobs.

The authentication process is very simple:

Upon activation of a function (copy, fax, email, secure printing etc) the SecureJet Auth-Fingerprint reader lights-up and the MFP screen prompts the user to scan his finger on the sensor. The user puts his finger on the sensor and after a few seconds a message on the front panel indicates if the finger is recognized or unknown.
It could not be more simple: there is nothing to type or touch on the MFP screen to authenticate.

Once the finger is recognized SecureJet Auth then grants the access to the MFP function and supplies to the MFP the following user information:

  • User full name

  • User login

  • User email address

That information will be reused by MFP functions such as hp Autostore or email

The user name then shows up on the top left of the screen.

On MFPs, usable with all manageable functions

Authentication on MFPs can authenticate users for:

Authentication on MFPs can authenticate users for:

  • Monochrome copy

  • Color copy

  • Fax sending

  • Email sending

  • Print jobs release (requires SecureJet Print SMP)

  • Scan to folder

  • hp DSS Workflow TM

  • Autostore TM

  • Omtool AccuRoute TM

  • Job tracking

  • and any other MFP function managed by the hp Authentication manager

Protecting email sending by forcing the FROM field information

When SecureJet Auth is used to control MFP email sending, the FROM field is automatically filled with the user name and email address and cannot be edited. This ensure no spoofing is done when sending emails from MFPs.

Enrollment and removal of users: no administration required

SecureJet Auth Fingerprint needs virtually no administration: users enroll using the MFP built-in LDAP or Kerberos authentication.

Fits any business size

Up to  500 users (1000 fingerprints) can be enrolled per MFP, far more than the average number of users on one MFP.

Fully protected biometrics information

SecureJet Auth-Fingerprint does not use/store the fingerprint picture but a key calculated from some points and lines in the fingerprint. Not only is it impossible to regenerate the fingerprint from the key, those keys are also securely stored in SecureJet Auth-Fingerprint and cannot be read back.

Simple to install

SecureJet Auth-Fingerprint connects directly inside the MFP and requires no power supply, no PC or server. It is configured through the printer embedded web page and self-removes users that don't use the system. Biometrics and enrollment information are not lost when the MFP disk is reformated.
