Modular approach
Instead of
being an all-in-one, SecureJet is now split in independent module.
Those modules can be used standalone and also work together to
fulfill the need and provide a complete system interfaced with other
applications. The split is done to 3 families:

Auth modules
User

Print modulesSmart

Track modulesTracking
& reporting |
With version 4.X, all capabilities had
to be purchased, even if not used. In example, some users wanted to
make use of the MFP built-in DSS Authentication agent to use
SecureJet secure printing, but that was not possible without also
acquiring a license of PIN code authentication.
With version 5, you only pay the needed
function: authentication, secure printing or tracking & reporting.
In example it is now possible to use
the SecureJet Authentication alone, in example to authenticate for
Autostore, email sending of color copy access control.
It is also possible to use a MFP
built-in user authentication agent such as Kerberos or LDAP to use
the SecureJet Print-SMP secure push printing module, and SecureJet
Print-SMP + SecureJet Print-PS mobile pull printing.
All modules have changed their name.

Faster
PIN code entry

In SecureJet V4 for 4345mfp, 9040mfp, 9050mfp, 9500mfp and DS9200C,
the "Press here to ID" button needed to be pressed to reach the
keypad screen to enter the PIN code, then ENTER, then back to the
fields screen then OK.
In SecureJet Auth V5 for those same devices the PIN code can be
entered directly on the printer numeric keypad, then the user press
OK.
New
Biometrics authentication
-
Professional
biometrics authentication
-
User recognition in less than 3 seconds
-
Up to 1000 fingers (up to 500 users) per MFP
Smart
and dynamic shift-in shift-out of print flow
SecureJet V5 firmware does stand anymore in the print path unless
needed.
It only steps in the print path when encrypted print jobs need to be
decrypted. This ensures the printer prints at maximum speed for push
and pull printing even for very large unencrypted print jobs.
Flexible
GUI for Secure Print SMP on MFPs
-
Local printer HD is checked (Push printing)
-
SecureJet-PS are checked (Pull printing)
-
All push and pull print jobs are listed together User can select
print jobs for info/print/delete

Optional
Instant release on MFPs
It is also now
possible to have a shortcut and not display the list of jobs on the
MFP front panel.
or
The administrator
defines the behavior in the SecureJet configuration.
Distributed
retention of print jobs on servers for high performance pull
printing
Up
to 5 Print-PS servers IP address can be defined on each SecureJet
Print-SMP configuration. SecureJet Print-SMP will contact those
servers looking for your jobs. This is a solution very simple to
setup. On the other hand it requires to communicate with each of
those servers, therefore we don't recommend it for WAN usage (the
next method should then be preferred).
Up
to 10,000 Print-PS servers can be setup on the Intranet, and they
share a connection to a Microsoft SQL Server or MSDE database. On a
MFP or printer, SecureJet Print-SMP is configured to access one
Print-PS server. That PS Server will then manage automatically the
retrieval of all jobs information from all Print-PS server on the
Intranet, as well as deletion and release process.
Live
LDAP or Active Directory badge number or PIN code validation
SecureJet can perform on-line validation of the user ID against LDAP and ActiveDirectory,
using
SecureJet Print-PS as validation
gateway.
The user badge number is
submitted to one or more LDAP and Active Directory servers through
SecureJet Print-PS, to find the user record matching the ID. Active
Directory or LDAP then returns the user information such as his
email address, login, full name, department name, domain etc. This
solution is the best when there is a LDAP/AD database which can be
accessed live and is fast.
Support
of Aliases for multiple logins, same identity
Users can have have multiple logins, one for Windows, one for
Unix, another one for SAP R/3. SecureJet Print-PS can
automatically assign all the user jobs to a primary login linked
to the authentication (badge, PIN code, smartcard) used on
printers and MFPs.
