SecureJet Enterprise Secure Printing

Secure printing solution for MFPs and Printers

Printing is really one of the most common and most insecure method to carry sensitive information, and you can't avoid it, the paperless office is a dream from the 80s that never materialized fully. Consequence: high cost, waste and security risks.

  • Print jobs can very easily be intercepted on the network and displayed on a computer screen using a PCL or Postcript viewer

  • By clicking a checkbox, print jobs flowing through a Windows print server can be archived instead of being deleted. It means an IT administrator can potentially visualize on his PC all print jobs made by top management, just by using a PCL or Postcript viewer and clicking on archived spool files.

  • Print jobs data can also easily be altered en-route to the printer. All information is in clear in the bytes sent to the printer and it is farily easy for a software to modify data such as a bank account number against another in a wire transfer order.

  • In 2007 a fraud happened at a large investment bank in New York, where an employee was located next to a printer where he could see documents being printed out about pending mergings and acquisitions. The employee was calling co-conspirators who were purchasing securities based on the non-public information. This happened dozens time, until the FBI arrested the group. • Sharing a printer often means printed documents are mixed up and one leaves with someone else's documents. It is then often impossible to identify the document owner and those pages are not only read by unauthorized people, they also end-up in a trash bin that is emptied by people that could potentially make use of such documents.

The SecureJet Enterprise solution addresses all those risks, by protecting print jobs before they reach the printer and when they reach the printer.

Protecting your print jobs en-route to the printer:

  • Print jobs data is fully encrypted with a sophisticated AES + RSA PKI system, where each client generates its own pair of keys for top security. This makes it impossible to visualize the document if it is intercepted.

  • Encryption is performed on the client PC, or in the shared print queue, before any spooling happens

  • Decryption happens in the printer RAM, just before conversion to dots on paper, without any spooling on disk

  • Encrypted print jobs data also benefit from data packets verification, preventing alteration

Protecting your print jobs on the printers:

  • Using the SecureJet Enterprise print jobs retention, print jobs are not printed before their owner is facing the printer, authenticates then requests those specific documents. As a result there is more document mix-up and documents are fully protected from preying eyes. You also save up to 10% of your printing cost by taking care of that waste problem..

  • Print jobs can be retained on the printer Hard Disk Drive (this is called secure push printing)

  • Print jobs can also be retained on print server Hard Disk Drive (this is called pull printing)

  • Print jobs can have a maximum delay for release, set in hours or days. Unclaimed documents are automatically deleted from retention when that limit is reached. This ensures sensitive documents are only available for printing for a limited time and saves money by supressing useless printing.

Two SecureJet modules provide such services:

SecureJet Print-SMP

  • This SecureJet Enterprise module runs inside printers and MFPs. It provide decryption service and locale/remote print jobs release.

SecureJet Print-PS

  • This SecureJet Enterprise module is a software for MS Windows Server, providing the secure print job retention on print server (pull printing). It requires the SecureJet Print-SMP modules on printers.

SecureJet Enterprise Print modules secure your documents’ delivery, increase productivity, and ease users’ life with printing and document output.
